about 30 miles (45 km) east of downtown Los Angeles at the base of the San Gabriel

Claremont is located at the eastern end of Los Angeles County, and is adjacent to the
cities of Upland, Pomona, La Verne, and Montclair and San Bernardino County. Claremont is
approximately 24 miles east of Pasadena and 30 miles east of Los Angeles. Claremont is also
home to the Claremont Institute.
